I was contracted to create a website design for a client going by the name of Angela whose writing group is based in Oldbury. The process I had to take to ensure I got this project was to send a proposal for the design and some samples of my work then the contractor would decide if I was suitable for the role. As you can see from the designs I was picked to do the work and I undertook the task like I would undertake every design task by putting 100% into what I was doing and trying to produce something new and different for the client I am designing for.
When I got talking to the client I got the impression that they wanted a writing website that was going to be a bit different from ones they had already seen online and for it to stand out and be unique to them and their members of the writing group. The client also didn't give me any indication of what colours they would like to use or how they wanted it laid out they just wanted me to come up with one or two designs and for us to go from there. So from this information I went away and conducted some research into the writing group and other writing group websites that other people were using to give me an idea of what I can use and what I can’t use as the client stated they didn't want to have anything that was similar to anyone else's
The final design I came up with was to try and do what the client asked and to make something completely different, so what I came up with was a white, silver and turquoise theme website, with a brand new logo of an old fashioned typewriter with swirls coming off it to give it them "WOW" look. The website also had a silver coloured footer which contained a little bit about the group, main links of the website and finally social media buttons which link the website to their Facebook, Twitter and so on pages. The rest of the website had a white background colour and the main text colour I used was black. Overall I have to say I was really happy with the final design and I loved the challenge of doing something different and would love to do something like this again.
The client was really happy with the final design and has given me a really lovely reference to tell people what she thought. You will also find the design of this website has been created by me as I like to make everything I design my own so its unique to me and the client. The software I used to create this website design was Adobe Photoshop and the client has also provided me with a reference for this design work.
