I was contracted to create a poster for a client going by the name of Tom Currie who is based in Wombourne near Wolverhampton. The process I had to take to ensure I got this project was to send a proposal for the design and some samples of my work then the contractor would decide if I was suitable for the role. As you can see from the designs I was picked to do the work and I undertook the task like I would undertake every design task by putting 100% into it.
When I got talking to the client they told me that they wanted a number of posters created for their new home and gave me three ideas of what they wanted. This poster however was based on “Sugar Skulls”. They asked if I could create a Sugar Skull poster that would stand out and look very sleek and professional. So from this information I went away and looked into tutorials of how to draw Sugar Skulls and to see if anyone else had created a Sugar Skull poster that I could research from.
The final design I came up with was a cream background with a swirl effect coming off the poster to give it more of an edge and make the Sugar Skull stand out more. The Sugar Skull I drew blended in well with this background because I used colour’s that were going to compliment the colour’s used in the background. Over all I am more than happy with the final design and if I asked I would be more than happy to work on something like this again.
The client was really happy with the final design and has given me a really nice reference to tell people what he thought of the poster, which will be available in my paper-based portfolio and on my website. The software I used to create the flyer was Adobe Photoshop.
