I was contracted to create an Invitation for a client going by the name of Helen who is based in Stourbridge. The process I had to take to ensure I got this project was to send a proposal for the design and some samples of my work then the contractor would decide if I was suitable for the role. As you can see from the designs I was picked to do the work and I undertook the task like I would undertake every design task by putting 100% into what I was doing and trying to produce something new and different for the client I am designing for.
When I got talking to the client again I got the impression that they knew exactly what they wanted for their wedding invitation. From the conversation that we had the client mentioned she wanted to have a game board or Monopoly style Invitation because she thought it would be something different and quirky and she wanted something that would get people talking and add a bit of a fun-factor to the wedding. From the information I then went away and conducted my own but o research into the subject matter and came across a few ideas that gave me the idea of what I was going to use for this one.
The final design I came up with was to try and do what the client asked and make something completely different but stick with the Monopoly theme. I didn't use the same colours that are used on a normal Monopoly board but used the theme the client gave me of cream, green, and pink. As you will see from the sections on the Monopoly board I have made it slightly similar to the actual game but I have changed the names and content on the board so for example instead of having a go to jail option I have a happily ever after option. As part of this design I also designed a personalised Invitation for each guest, a RSVP Invitation, a Gift Card which was based on the Community Chest card and finally an Accommodation Card which was based on the Chance card. I am more than happy with the final design of this Invitation and would more than love to do something like it again.
The client was really happy with the final design and has given me a really nice reference to tell people what she thought of the Invitation. You will also find the design of this Invitation has been created by me as I like to make everything I design my own so its unique to me and the client. The software I used to create the invitation was Adobe Photoshop.
